Have you ever watched Sigourney Weaver in Alien and wondered what it would be like to sleep in space? (minus the chest bursting and terrifying ETs.) Now the experience can be yours…almost.
Being the most expensive city in the world, Singapore has had to find inventive ways to attract tourists who can’t afford the city’s sky-high room rates.
Enter MET A Space Pod, the city’s first space themed hostel. With 26 private ‘Space pods’ for guests to get some shut-eye in, it is one of the most unusual places to stay in Singapore.
Costing around £31 a night this hostel boasts more privacy than your backpacker dorm. Each pod stacks on top of another and provides guests with their own TV, orthopedic mattress, USB charging station, fire extinguisher, light and foldable table.
The hostel has river views overlooking the Marina Bay Sands and is slap-bang in the heart of Singapore. You can even change the temperature and lighting of each pod to suit your mood.
Bigger pods are available for traveling couples from around £48 a night.
As long as you’re not claustrophobic then MET A Space Pod might be the answer for Shoestringers visiting the southeast Asian city.
